The Superhero Horror for Dark Fantasy Lovers.
Scott and Phoebe revere fantasy stories. They adore knights and superheroes. They love shining armor and glorious triumphs. To them, fantasy is a revelation of the most real things in our world. Things like love, goodness, purpose, and valor. So when the opportunity presents itself, via the dealings of a wizard, they become the heroes of one.
However, blood stains build on blades the further they go. Ash falls on broken cities. People die and stay dead and the horrors of Esperal begin to bury these lovers. Phoebe and Scott are left wondering if they've got it wrong. Maybe fantasy is believing in heroes and kindness, meaning, and an end to the dark. Maybe what's real about fantasy is only the dragons and demons within. And maybe, they were never meant to be the heroes of Esperal. Maybe, they were sent there as food for the creatures who quietly feast on anyone caught playing good.
