Dreaming While Awake
I had a dream,
Was it only a dream?
My thoughts can seem
To have no stream.
They tear each other apart.
When am I gonna start?
You look so happy when you do your art.
I’m at a desk
In suit and tie
But I never wanted to be that guy.
We do what we must to make it by.
I had a dream,
Was it only a dream?
My thoughts can seem
To have no stream.
They tear each other apart.
When am I gonna stop?
You look so happy when you do your art.
I have these opportunities,
And they are what are expected of me.
I have to please my family.
So when am I gonna start?
You look so happy when you do your art.
I’m just a man,
A speck on the earth.
God a day after my birth.
But I have some worth,
A purpose in my soul,
Living like somebody else,
Takes it toll.
I’m living the dream.
Whose dream is it anyways?
I’m living the dream.
Whose dream is it anyways?
I come home after a long day of work.
And it truly is an endearing quirk,
To find in my life,
That I have a wife,
Who has a dream,
And it’s not only a dream.
My thoughts can seem,
To find their home,
In me playing my part.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll start.
You look so happy when you do your art.
